Monroe County Heritage FestivalThe Monroe County Watermelon Festival brings more than 10,000 people to Tompkinsville on the Saturday before Labor Day each year. Featured are a Parade, Arts and Crafts Fair, 5-K and Fun Runs, Quilt Show, Art Show, Cruise-in, watermelon-related contests and a street dance at night.

Fountain Run hosts a Barbecue Festival on the third Saturday in May, with activities including a Parade, Fun Runs, Quilt Show and a Talent Show. Barbecue, of course, is the featured food.

The county’s newest festival is the Gamaliel Autumn Fest on the fourth Saturday in September. Special features include a Bed Race, Dog Show, Quilt Show and Car Show.
